August 16, 2011 – New York – Pop music superstars and multi-platinum-selling recording artists, Jay Sean and Joe Jonas, announced they will co-headline a 19-city tour this Fall.  The tour, bringing both artists’ dance and R&B infused music to an intimate club setting, kicks off in Boston, MA on September 6 at the House of Blues and will visit major cities across North America including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and San Francisco.

International superstar Jay Sean topped charts worldwide with songs such as “Down," featuring Lil’ Wayne, and “Do You Remember,” from his U.S. debut album All or Nothing, which helped catapult him into a league reserved for just a few.  Now, he is gearing up for the release of his fourth album, the highly anticipated Cash Money/Universal Republic follow-up Freeze Time, including the smashes “2012” with Nicki Minaj and “Hit the Lights” guest starring Lil’ Wayne.  This latest project represents the strongest realization of Jay Sean’s vision to date: a lethal combination of pop, R&B and dance music that bridges the singer’s myriad musical interests.  Jay Sean’s latest singles, “Like This Like That” (with Birdman) and the ballad, “Where Do We Go,” which is featured on his forthcoming mixtape, The Mistress, underscore the diversity of his talents and vocal ability.

In addition to creating timeless hits and performing in front of sold-out audiences all over the world, Jay Sean devotes much of his time and resources to various causes including HIV/AIDS, hunger and homelessness.  He serves as an ambassador for Keep A Child Alive and works with other non-profit organizations such as Feeding America and Do Something, as well as the Get Schooled Foundation.

Joe Jonas (Jonas Brothers) will be touring to support the release of his forthcoming Hollywood Records’ solo debut album, FastLife, in stores on October 11.  The album’s lead single, “See No More,” was released in June and earned rave reviews from both Billboard and Entertainment Weekly.  People Magazine recently included the song in their Hot Singles list.  It was also just nominated for a Teen Choice award while the video for the song has racked up nearly 5 million views on YouTube and VEVO.  Joe was Details Magazine’s April 2011 cover story and is currently one of the cover stories for Paper Magazine’s Summer Music issue.  He made his U.S. television debut as a solo artist on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.”  He will also join Britney Spears as her tour hits cities across Europe in October.

Today is 1st September. The Adi Granth was first installed and ceremoniously opened in the Harmandar Sahib, Amritsar, 407 years ago. On the instruction of Guru Arjan Sahib, Baba Buddha ji, the first granthi of the Sikhs opened the Granth Sahib and shared the first order of the day (hukam). This day in Sikh history is an extremely significant milestone for the development of the Sikh community.
Historically, the Adi Granth is the first compiled copy of the present day Guru Granth Sahib, excluding the bani of Guru Teghbahadar Sahib, which was scribed in later by Bhai Mani Singh on the instruction of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. This new version came to be known as Damdami Bir, as it was prepared at Damdama Sahib. It is this copy of the Granth Sahib which received the Guruship from Guru Gobind Singh Sahib in 1708 and became Guru Granth Sahib. Currently, the original Adi Granth is said to be with the descendants of Dhir Mal in Kartarpur, about 15km north-west of Jalandhar, Panjab. The significance and purpose of compilation of the Adi Granth is beautifully explained in the Sikh tradition in the excerpt below:

Gur? Arjan S?hib to Bh?? Gurd?s
The Gur?, perfectly-endowed, withdrew into solitude, And called Gurd?s to his presence. Seating him by his side, to him he revealed his purpose thus: Listen, brother! To my wish. Make the Granth into an ample volume, And write it out in Gurmukh? characters. In the Patti devised by Gur? N?nak, Are included thirty-five letters. In these letters record the entire bani of the Gurus, Which all may be able to study with ease, Those that are greatly endowed with understanding, Should study it more amply through their learning. After a study and contemplation of many years, May alone its essence be realized. Such essence too in Gurmukhi should they express with hearts full of reverence. In language that may be easy to follow, Those endowed with learning express themselves In Sanskrit and the Muslim [Persian and Arabic] tongues: Over all such writing shall it spread soon, As oily substance poured over water. Householders engaged in daily labors, who have little learning, Yet seek knowledge, may study it with ease. By it shall be indicated a broad cartload on which those traveling, shall nowise stray. Therefore, write you down the Gurmukhi letters, That these over the wide world may get known. Let those with faith read these with ease – Thereby shall they learn contemplation of Almighty, Giver of Liberation. Great is the merit of those letters, That the world over shall be known as Gurmukhi.
